Allahumma urzuqna suhbat al-akhyaar Meaning

Arabic Text:

اللهم ارزقنا قلبًا نقيًا لا يحمل بغضًا لأحد

Transliteration:

Allahumma urzuqna suhbat al-akhyaar

Translation:

O Allah, grant us a pure heart that holds no hatred for anyone

Word Meaning:

This supplication is a profound request for spiritual purification and inner peace. Let’s break it down:

1. “O Allah” (اللهم)

The invocation begins by calling upon Allah, acknowledging His power and mercy as the sole source of all blessings.

2. “Grant us” (ارزقنا)

The word “arzukna” (grant us) implies seeking sustenance (rizq), not just materially but also spiritually. Here, it refers to the sustenance of a purified heart.

3. “A pure heart” (قلبًا نقيًا)

A “pure heart” is one free from malice, envy, arrogance, and corruption. It reflects sincerity, humility, and love for the sake of Allah.

4. “That does not hold hatred for anyone” (لا يحمل بغضًا لأحد)

This emphasizes the importance of cleansing the heart from grudges, animosity, and ill feelings toward others. Hatred corrupts faith and distances a person from Allah’s mercy.

Why This Dua Matters:

Spiritual Cleanliness: Islam teaches that a heart tainted by hatred weakens faith (iman). The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Do not hate one another, do not envy one another, do not turn away from one another, but be servants of Allah as brothers.” (Bukhari & Muslim).

Social Harmony: Holding grudges disrupts relationships, while a pure heart fosters unity and compassion.

Divine Proximity: Allah loves those who forgive and purify their hearts. A heart free of hatred is more receptive to guidance and worship.

How to Cultivate a Pure Heart:

Forgive Others: Let go of past grievances for Allah’s sake.

Avoid Suspicion & Backbiting: These poison the heart.

Pray for Others: Even those who wronged you.

Seek Refuge in Allah: From Shaytan’s whispers that breed hatred.

This dua is a reminder that true strength lies in a heart purified by faith, love, and mercy—qualities that bring us closer to Allah and humanity.
