Allahumma aj’alna min alladheena yafrahoona bidhikrik Meaning

Arabic Text:

اللهم اجعلنا من الذين يحبونك حبًا خالصًا

Transliteration:

Allahumma aj’alna min alladheena yafrahoona bidhikrik

Translation:

O Allah, make us among those who love You with pure love

Word Meaning:

This dua is a heartfelt plea to Allah to be counted among those who possess sincere and exclusive love for Him. It reflects the desire to purify one’s love for Allah, free from worldly distractions, hypocrisy, or ulterior motives.

Key Components of the Dua:

“اللهم” (O Allah):

A direct address to Allah, expressing humility and recognition of His sovereignty.

“اجعلنا” (Make us):

A request for divine intervention, acknowledging that true love for Allah is a blessing granted by Him, not achieved solely through personal effort.

“من الذين يحبونك” (Among those who love You):

A reference to the believers whose hearts are filled with love for Allah, as mentioned in the Quran: “Those who believe are stronger in love for Allah” (Quran 2:165). Loving Allah is a core aspect of faith (iman), as the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The most beloved of deeds to Allah is to love for His sake and hate for His sake” (Abu Dawood).

“حبًا خالصًا” (A pure love):

Khāliṣan (pure) signifies sincerity—love that is free from:

  • Shirk (associating partners with Allah): Loving others as one should love Allah.
  • Riya (show-off): Seeking praise rather than Allah’s pleasure.
  • Worldly motives: Loving Allah only for personal gain (e.g., Paradise) rather than for His sake alone.

Pure love means prioritizing Allah above all else, as in the hadith: “Whoever loves for Allah, hates for Allah, gives for Allah, and withholds for Allah has perfected his faith” (Tirmidhi).

Why This Dua Matters:

  • Purification of the Heart: It seeks to cleanse love from impurities, aligning it with tawhid (monotheism).
  • Sign of True Faith: Love for Allah is the foundation of worship; actions without love are empty rituals.
  • Protection from Misguidance: Loving Allah sincerely guards against loving transient worldly desires.

How to Cultivate This Love:

  1. Knowledge of Allah: Learn His names and attributes to appreciate His perfection.
  2. Obedience: Regularly perform acts of worship (prayer, dhikr, Quran) to strengthen the bond.
  3. Reflection: Contemplate His blessings and signs in creation.
  4. Supplication: Consistently ask Allah to instill His love in your heart.

Conclusion:

This dua encapsulates the aspiration for a heart wholly devoted to Allah, where love for Him transcends all other attachments. It is a recognition that such love is a gift from Allah, sought through humility and devotion.

May Allah make us among those who love Him purely and unconditionally. Ameen.

When to Use:

The phrase *”اللهم اجعلنا من الذين يحبونك حبًا خالصًا”* (translation: *”O Allah, make us among those who love You with a pure love”*) is a heartfelt supplication (dua) used by Muslims seeking sincere devotion to Allah. It is recited in personal prayers, during moments of reflection, or after obligatory prayers (such as Salah) to express the desire for a deep, unwavering love for Allah, free from worldly distractions or hypocrisy.

This dua reflects the Islamic emphasis on *ikhlas* (sincerity) in worship and aligns with Quranic teachings (e.g., Surah Al-Baqarah 2:165) that highlight the believers’ intense love for Allah. It may also be used in sermons, spiritual gatherings, or as part of nightly adhkar (remembrances) to cultivate pure intention (*niyyah*) and strengthen faith.

**Common Scenarios:**

1. **After Salah:** Added in personal supplications post-prayer.

2. **Tahajjud/Qiyam al-Layl:** During late-night prayers seeking closeness to Allah.

3. **Repentance:** When seeking forgiveness and renewing one’s commitment to Allah.

4. **Islamic Lectures:** As a reminder of sincere love for Allah.

5. **Daily Adhkar:** Included in morning/evening remembrance routines.

The phrase underscores the believer’s aspiration for a bond with Allah rooted in purity, not merely ritualistic obedience.
