Arabic Text:

اللهم اجعلنا من الذين يسعون للخير أينما كانوا

Transliteration:

Allahumma aj’alna min alladheena yukhlisoona al-‘ibadata laka wahdak

Translation:

O Allah, make us among those who seek goodness wherever they are

Word Meaning:

This supplication is a heartfelt plea to Allah to include the supplicant among those who actively pursue goodness, righteousness, and beneficial deeds in all aspects of life, regardless of time, place, or circumstance.

Breakdown of the Dua:

1. اللهم (O Allah) – The invocation begins by calling upon Allah, acknowledging His sovereignty and mercy, and seeking His assistance.

2. اجعلنا (make us) – A humble request for Allah to place the supplicant in a specific group or category—in this case, among the doers of good.

3. من الذين يسعون للخير (among those who strive for good) – The core of the dua emphasizes active effort (*سعي*) in performing good deeds, not just passive goodness. It includes acts like helping others, spreading knowledge, giving charity, upholding justice, and maintaining moral conduct.

4. أينما كانوا (wherever they are) – This phrase highlights universality—goodness should be pursued in all places: at home, work, in society, or even in solitude. It also implies consistency in character, whether in ease or hardship.

Key Lessons from the Dua:

Proactive Goodness: Islam encourages believers to be proactive in doing good, not just avoiding evil.

Universal Application: Good deeds are not limited to specific acts (like prayer or fasting) but extend to all aspects of life—kindness, honesty, and service to others.

Dependence on Allah: The dua acknowledges that true success in righteousness comes only through Allah’s guidance and facilitation.

When to Use This Dua:

– When seeking sincerity in actions.

– When asking Allah for steadfastness in doing good despite challenges.

– As a reminder to maintain a positive impact in all environments.
