Dua after the adhan

The supplication after the adhan asks Allah to grant the Prophet the honoured station mentioned in the report. Its wording follows hearing the call to prayer, rather than replacing the adhan itself.

Transliteration

Allahumma Rabba hadhihid-da‘watit-tammati was-salatil-qa’imah, ati Muhammadanil-wasilata wal-fadilah, wab‘ath-hu maqaman mahmudanil-ladhi wa‘adtah.

English meaning

O Allah, Lord of this complete call and the prayer to be established, grant Muhammad the Wasilah and distinction, and raise him to the praised station You promised him.

Source and key terms

Sahih al-Bukhari 614 records the selected words. The request includes al-wasilah, distinction and the praiseworthy station promised to the Prophet. Read these as requests to Allah, preserving the quotation’s subject and context.

For a fuller explanation of al-wasilah, Sahih Muslim 384 connects it with a station in Paradise. Learning that context helps make an unfamiliar Arabic term meaningful.

Following the reported setting

The card is labelled for after hearing the adhan. Responding to the caller, sending blessings and the details of hearing a recording are related questions with their own evidence and guidance.

Do not infer every part of an adhan routine from this one quotation. If you are learning, study the sequence with a teacher and distinguish the caller’s words from the listener’s remembrance.

Comparing versions

Some printed versions add a concluding sentence. This card preserves Bukhari 614’s selected wording; an addition should have a separate reference rather than being silently attached to it.

Read any reported virtue from the source with its conditions. The text should not become a slogan promising a worldly result that the narration does not mention.
